Shanti: Where Love Heals
11 Episodes
Shanti Leprahilfe is a German non-profit addressing the medical and educational needs of people living in acute poverty and terminal illnesses. In addition, they provide livelihood opportunities for impoverished communities in developing contexts. It gives us great joy to bring you this series of human stories, highlighting lessons of indomitable human spirit, resilience, love of life, love of art, compassion, camaraderie and most of all, hope!
With each of these stories, we aim to dismantle the stigma that persons with leprosy, polio, third-degree burns, and muscular dystrophy are perceived within our culture. We want to provide the same limelight and opportunity to these people as any other human
being. These films are to bring to the world their remarkable achievements in overcoming societal ostracization and be recognized as the real Heroes and Sheroes.
Nathuni, the artist, for example, is the true epitome of the saying, “Disabled from the outside, but not from the inside”, as he paints beautiful murals on the walls of Shanti Sewa Griha and fills any room with his warmth and welcoming nature. We want you, our viewers, to experience the same warmth that we did while filming these stories.
Overcome your initial inhibitions and fears that you may feel at the sight of a person with visible ailments. Be touched by their bravery and contributions to society in their unique way, be it as a weaver, painter, silversmith, dancer, carpenter, or tailor.
We hope you enjoy and feel inspired by our humble attempt at celebrating the richness of the human spirit and amplifying voices of courage and humility.
