The Patapsco Female Institute is a former boarding school and now a partially rebuilt historical site. The institute was a hotel and a private home and used as a service hospital. Annie Van Derlot is the spirit known to still be roaming this building-- she was unhappy writing letters to her family, wanting to go back home. Not long into her first winter at this school, she became extremely ill and in the matter of days died from pneumonia while at the school.
