In this premiere episode of History Alive, the team travels to Fowler, Indiana — a small town with a past far larger than its size. Their investigation begins at the historic Fowler Theatre, where reports of unexplained voices and unexplained activity suggest the past may still be lingering behind the curtain.
Just blocks away stood the Old Benton County Jail, built in 1876, once home to some of the county’s darkest chapters — including convicted murderer Jacob Nelling. As the team investigates the aging structure, they uncover intelligent responses that seem to focus on one investigator in particular. Months later, the jail would be demolished, making this investigation one of its last recorded explorations.
The journey continues to the Jonesville Resthome in Kentucky, where a surge of activity in Janet’s Room leads to experiments with the Estes Method, the Ganzfeld technique, and direct communication devices like the Ovilus. As clues begin pointing the team in a specific direction, the question becomes unavoidable: are these moment's coincidence — or something reaching out?
From historic preservation to potential paranormal encounters, this episode asks a powerful question:
Is history simply remembered… or is it alive?
